    About Us:

We are a group of surfer scientists, scuba diving engineers, and speed sailing entrepreneurs whose goal is to help humanity become a carbon-negative species. Skyology is a USA-based carbon capture startup reimagining how we handle climate change. We recently partnered with Ocean Impact Organization and Energy Lab (the same startup competition that Wave Swell Energy, Next Protein, and Matter, among others, have participated in), raised our angel round, and are now preparing to bring our first pilot project to the Pacific Ocean.

Skyology aims to use its proprietary reactor technology to remove CO2 from the atmosphere at the gigaton scale. Our goal is to improve the lives of millions of people and organisms by capturing CO2 and removing acidity from the ocean.

    The Role:

As a project scientist, you will be a key member of the ongoing research projects at Skyology. You will test and publish our living techno-economic-assessment. You will drive the development of our products from the benchtop to scale-up. You will cross-functionally guide the team’s research, design experiments, analyze data, and engineer solutions. You will be accountable for writing technical reports, presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders, and managing external partnerships. We are looking for people passionate about the ocean and fighting climate change.

How you make a massive impact:

Build a living techno-economic assessment alongside the current hypothesis and technology

Explore and develop technical leadership for multiple novel technologies

Validate and establish reactor components inhouse, measure and improve variability in data

Maintain experimental records, perform data analysis and generate summaries for internal and external meetings

    Resolve experimental problems

Integrating research into technical engineering specifications

Mentor junior team members on the issues that come with working on deep technology moonshots

    What you should have:

Ph.D. or MSc in Oceanography, biogeochemistry, and ocean chemistry, with a focus on the carbon cycle, reaction pathways, OAE, or related background

Two years of industry experience post-graduation

Hands-on experience with CO2 mineralization, reactive transport, and aqueous geochemistry

An ideal candidate has strong engineering practices and is comfortable testing research at a rapid pace

It’d be great if you also had these:

Experience Translating and applying research to the commercialization of products

    Startup experience, rigor, and discipline

Design or construction of pilot plants/field trials

    Experience with techno-economic analysis

    Experience with systems thinking

    What you will get:

    3-6 month contract: $15,000 - $25,000

Potential to become full-time salary, vesting equity, and future benefits

    Flexible vacation sick days

Technology (Hardwear, softwear, reading materials, etc..) allowance
